Saturday School Blog
Junior & Graduate Class
Dear families,
Hello Families! Welcome to the Saturday School Blog. We are happy to inform you that we will be releasing a monthly blog at the end of each week. Please look at it together with your children and engage in discussions about it within your house.
Week 4, May 11th
Time flies, the last lesson of May just finished! The theme of this month was about sports. We learned different types of sports in the lesson. We did the revision on the simple present tense and tried to learn more verbs in the past tense too. Then, we talked about winter sports and soccer from the reading books. We made the cup and ball craft together which was fun! We also colored the Olympic rings with colorful stickers and we did a brief introduction to the Olympic games too.
Week 5, May 18th
This week, we continued on the winter sports and other ball games! Therefore, we read two books about winter days and T-ball. There were a lot of versions of different ball games and we tried to understand the game's rules and history. Speaking of baseball, we had to mention the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles team from our city Sendai! We listened to the theme song and watched a video about it. For the activities, we made a baseball-shaped gift card and ice-skating craft!
Week 6, May 25th
At the end of this month, we summed up all the sports we learned by discussing the Olympics this year! We did our speaking practice at the beginning of the lesson. Then, we read two books about animals playing sports and a trip to the Rio Olympics. We were looking forward to the Paris Olympics 2024 because the video of this year's Olympics was amazing! We created a hand-crafted race track together in the activity! We used the materials from the classroom and built the massive race track!
Highlighted books of the week:
"A Trip to Rio" by Katherine Follett
"Winter Sports" by Elizabeth Jane Pustilnik
