Saturday School Blog

Junior & Graduate Class

Dear families,

Hello Families! Welcome to the Saturday School Blog. We are happy to inform you that we will be releasing a monthly blog at the end of each week. Please look at it together with your children and engage in discussions about it within your house.

Week 7, June 1st

Time flies, the last lesson of June just finished! The theme of this month was about food around the countries. We learned about different countries and cultures around the world in the lessons. In the first lesson of the month, we tried to learn more new vocabulary to describe our daily life and used them in our questioning game. Since it was a rainy day, we also learned some basic concepts of water and made our little umbrella to prevent the rain.

Week 8, June 8th

This week, we traveled to America and Canada together! At the beginning of the lesson, we finished the worksheet about nature. We used the sentence pattern of 'the same as' to describe the animals and tried using it in our questioning game. Then, we read the book about those countries and shared our thoughts. We also used ink and various materials to create our crafts today.

Week 9, June 15th

The destination of this week is Singapore in Southeast Asia. We studied sentence structure at the beginning of the lesson, then we tried to use the skills we learned to answer most of the questions in our questioning game. After that, we read a book about the traveling experience in Singapore, the country near us. Fishing is one of the most popular activities in Singapore and the city's landmark is the Merlion! So, we made the craft based on our impression of the town.

Week 10, June 22nd

As the last lesson of the month, we had a collaborative activity with the other friends from the school. We created our farmers' market and used our creation of different vegetables to trade. It was fun to have a picnic together and share our love of food. We also tried to know more about the other places' food and tacos are one of the most famous Mexican dishes in the world. So, we read a book about it and learned more about the country. We made our favorite tacos at the end of the lesson.

Highlighted books of the week:

"Wing's Visit to Singapore" by Chitra Soundar and Ty Allison

"Paco's Tacos" by Karen Mockler
