Welcome to Saturday School for Term 2
Week 14, August 24th
This week, we started our environment topic. We discussed ways we can help our environment. Our main focus was on trash, and how we should get rid of items we no longer used. We talked a lot about recycling, what things can be recycled, ways we can separate our trash, and what happens to it after we throw it away. We learnt about making new things from old things, and made our own recycled animals.
For our phonics and language development, our focus letter was "G". It was great to see how many words our friends knew that began with the letter "g".
Week 14, August 24th
This week, we talked about helpful animals. Continuing with our environment topic, we discussed all the animals around us that we rely on and what we can do to protect them. Our main discussion revolved around bees. Our friends were very interested in how bees make honey, and that during this process they also help plants and flowers grow. It was a lot of fun looking at the honey making process, and where bees live. Many friends said they want to try eating fresh honey on the honeycomb. For our craft, we folded lots of hexagons, and glued them together to make our very own honeycomb with bees and flowers around it.
For our phonics and literacy exploration this week, we focused on the letter "O". We had lots of fun playing alphabet "I spy" and searching for "o' letter words.
